Food Pantry

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.                                 Romans 12:6-8

Kings Food Pantry in South Lebanon

The Kings Food Pantry is dedicated to helping feed hungry residents living within Kings Local School District.   Deerfield UMC has had a long and fruitful relationship with the food pantry.  With guidance from the staff at the pantry, we highlight one or two items each month that the members of the congregation can bring in to donate.  On top of this, we sponsor two food drives a year that challenge the congregation to donate items in fun and creative ways.  Whether it is filling a canoe or wrapping the donated items around the church sanctuary, the congregation enjoys stocking the shelves of the food pantry.

November Food Pantry Collection

The Thanksgiving and Christmas season is one of the most popular times for giving and the Kings Food Pantry is usually well stocked with food donations, plus they also give good baskets to families. Therefore, this year we are doing an “un-food” drive for the following items: Personal Care Items, Baby Products, or Cleaning Supplies.  Also, don’t forget our furry friends! Some people in dire straights would rather go hungry themselves than let their dog or cat suffer. So remember pets too when you shop for the above “un-food” items. Please bring your donations to church during the month of November and we will deliver them to the Kings Food Pantry in early December. THANK YOU! Please contact Stephanie Copley or Barb Dixon with questions.
