Upcoming Special Events:
Deerfield UMC is collecting items to make 2 “Emergency Clean-up Bucket” kits for the Church World Service Kit Collection on September 19, 2015 at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. We will assemble our kits and take them to a drop off location to be taken up to the kit collection day. The kits will be stored and delivered to an area of need during a time of emergency such as a natural disaster.
Our goal is to create TWO buckets containing the following materials:
Scouring pads (5), sponges (7- assorted sizes), scrub brush, reusable cleaning towels (18), 50-78 oz dry laundry detergent, 12 oz bottle of liquid concentrated cleaner, 24-28 oz bottle liquid disinfectant dish soap, package of 48-50 clothespins, clothesline (50 ft x2 or 100 ft), dust masks (5), pair of latex gloves (2), pair of work gloves, 24-28 bag of heavy-duty 30-45 gallon trash bags, and 6-9 oz bottle of insect repellent.
All items can be dropped off at Deerfield UMC Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Sunday mornings. One or two item donations are welcomed! Thank you!
Pumpkin Patch Craft Fair

Friends of the Groom Special Worship (click for more info!)
Deerfield UMC has the honor of hosting Friends of the Groom Theater Company for our Sunday service on September 13, 2015. The group is “committed to revealing the Christian message with a unique blend of humor, story, challenging content, and scenes that are hard to forget.” Worship starts at 11:00 am and all are welcome!
Theme: Chili Cook-off with our first annual trophy and prize being awarded for the winner
When: Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Interested in serving through building a relationship with a young person while tutoring them in reading? Please consider becoming a Whiz Kid tutor. Deerfield UMC partnered with Joshua’s Place and Whiz Kids to tutor at JF Burns Elementary last school year and we are doing it again. Back to Church Sunday (click for more info!)
At “Back to Church Sunday” on September 20 we will be focusing on “Back to School” in worship! The community is invited to join us in worship and bring children’s backpacks so we can bless the backpacks and pray for your children and teachers. 11 am worship. Come at 10:30 for free food!
Movie and Snack Night
When: Friday, September 25th from 6:30 – 9:00
Join us for fellowship, snacking, and enjoying a family-friendly movie on the big screen. Bring your favorite snack to share. Movie TBA. All are welcome!
“You Were Made for More” Retreat Sponsored by Motherless Daughters
When: Saturday, October 10th from 9 am – 4:30 pm. Open to all women, although sponsored by Motherless Daughters, this retreat does not focus on mother loss. Cost is $40 and includes lunch and snacks.
